VAN GIESON PICROFUCHSIN

van Gieson picrofuchsin is part of the van Gieson trichrome staining. It stains fibers of the connective tissue, such as collagen and reticular fibers.

Procedure

Solution A

1 g acid picrofuchsin (C.I. 75290)

100 ml distilled water

Solution B

Saturated solution of picric acid

Notes

A and B solutions are mixed in 1:45 proportion. This solution can be immediately used or left for maturation during several weeks. In any case, 0.25 ml of acid chloride is sometimes added before use.
